JOB DESCRIPTION
Requirements:
Mission Statement: To provide housing and transitional support services to those with the least housing options.
Reports to: Assistant Finance Manager
Start Date: ASAP
Salary range: $50,000 - $56,000 annually

The Rent Geared to Income (RGI) Administrator maintains and enhances Homes First Societys tenant services by administering the New Simplified Rent Geared to Income program in accordance with the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA). Providing support and ensuring adherence to the mission statement, policies and procedures of Homes First Society.
Prepares monthly reports
Perform Annual Income Reviews, In- Year Reviews and review any other changes in income or household.
Notify Finance, Housing Management team, tenants and staff of any changes in rent due to changes in income or household composition.
Maintain all Tenants RGI Files in accordance with the RGI guidelines. And in chronological order, including all correspondence, Notice of Decisions, Loss of Eligibility, Changes in Rent, Requests for Reviews, Eviction forms, Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) forms and notices, Eligibility documents, including status in Canada, etc.
Keep informed of changes in the Residential Tenancies Act, Housing Services Act, Human Rights Act and Rent Supplement program
Use the updated City RGI Administration Manual as a reference and support tool.
Undertake special projects as assigned by the manager
Perform administrative duties as necessary
Ensures that the Health and Safety guidelines are followed in accordance with Homes Firsts policies and procedures
Liaison with the Housing department to prepare/file LTB notices and applications for arrears
Attend Landlord Tenant Board tribunal hearings
Provides back up rent collection
Be available at head office to collect rent the last two and the first two days of each month
Deposit rents into the bank
Maintain a good communication with housing staff and tenants
Organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
Knowledge of tenant population, diversity issues, anti- Discrimination practices and systemic reasons for homelessness
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in languages other than English an asset.
Responsibilities:
Complete required courses to maintain the position.
Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, etc. )
Ability to learn & implement procedures and guidelines in accordance with the Residential Tenancies Act.
Post secondary education in Business Administration or accounting or related field or equivalent education and experience.
Experience working and communicating with people from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of the RGI program in the Province of Ontario
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and organization skills.
Working in an environment where there may be smoke is required.
The successful applicant must provide a criminal record check that is satisfactory to Homes First Society.
