Your Opportunity:Brooks Acute Care is a 28 bed unit providing care to Medical/Surgical/Obstetrical & Maternity patients received from the ER, Regional/Tertierary facilities & directly from home. This environment is suitable for a Registered Nurse who has recent medical, surgical and/or maternity experience.
As a member of the CoAct team, the Registered Nurse provides safe & effective nursing care according to AHS policies & best practice standards. You will coordinate & collaborate with the interdisciplionary team, patient & family. You will utilize the nursing processes, critical thinking skills & problem solving skills to coordinate care, teach, counsel & advocate on behalf of patients & families. You will observe, monitor, report, & document changes in the patients physical, mental, & emotional state. You will periodically assume charge nurse responsibilties once you are established on the unit & orientated to the role. It is the expectation the successful candidate will work in all areas of acute care, including labor & delivery and particpiate in MoreOB skill drills, workshops, exams etc.

This position qualifies for the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program, which reimburses $4,000 per year (up to a maximum of 5 years) for working in the rural Brooks setting.
Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) or Designated Supportive Living (DSL) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC/DSL site for the remainder of the pandemic. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum of one (1) year experience in adult medical/surgical nursing experience within the last 2 years.Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of CoAct and collaborative care in the acute care setting.
Current IV, Level 1 CVC, epidural, PCA, Narcan and IV Direct certifications.
