HSE Specialist / Facilitator

Diversified Transportation is currently looking for a full-time HSE Specialist & Facilitator to join our team in Fort McMurray. Reporting to the HSE Director, this role will be responsible for providing guidance/support/supervision on multiple job sites to a variety of skilled trade employees and management on implementing our HSE safety leadership program, ensuring that company systems are constantly evolving and improving to meet or exceed company, legislated and client requirements.

Additionally, the HSE Specialist & Facilitator will assist in the development and implementation of various proactive initiatives including new employee orientations, contractor orientations, supervisory safety training, facility inspections and HSE meetings.

Primary Responsibilities:

Support and promote Diversified (DTL) Core Values and DTL policies and proceduresSupport the implementation of HSE initiatives and processes to build an organization-wide safety cultureSupport, communicate and educate co-workers on the Health and Safety Management System and Environmental Management SystemSupport the Director in developing and meeting budgetary goalsSupport the HSE Team in all locations and endeavorsAssist in conducting, coordinating, training/retraining employees on HSE safety programsDevelop/maintain/review HSE training program and make updates as requiredDevelop/maintain/review HSE training programs in areas such as FLHA's, JHA's training reports, near miss review, incident investigations, safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipment etc.Assist in safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance with Corporate Health & Safety policies, procedures, programs and guidelines,
and proper work practices needed to maintain a safe and healthful operation and work siteProvide technical advice, coaching, guidance and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changesAssist in conducting safety meetings on topics designed to promote a better understanding of company Health and safety policies, procedures, programs or general health and safetyAssist in incident investigations for collisions, near miss review, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventative measures and effectively assist WCB cases and return to work activities

?Desired Qualifications:

An NCSO certificate, and/or Health and Safety Advisory certificate, or degree/certificate in Occupational HealthCOR Audit certification training (or willing to obtain within 1 year on your own)Proficient in developing JHAs, Risk Matrix's, Policies and Procedures, etc.Extensive knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Traffic Safety Act and supporting transportation regulationsPrevious experience in Health and Safety in an Industrial Industry settingPrevious experience in the transportation industry (an asset)Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications and other computer systemsKnowledge of applicable HSE regulations, codes, practices and standardsValid driver's license with safe driving historyExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to others and create effective customer-focused relationships at all levelsAbility to read, interpret and communicate policies, programs and regulationsDemonstrated alignment with the company's Core Values
