JOB DESCRIPTION

Your Opportunity:
These duties range from light dusting to heavy cleaning all surface areas, including walls, ceilings, vents, mirrors, windows, door and light fixtures throughout the site. This position performs floor maintenance duties including dry and wet mopping, floor scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and shampooing. The Environmental II worker ensures that adequate supplies in patient care, offices, and staff areas are available. The transportation and arranging of heavy furniture and equipment using dollies, carts, or manually may be required to perform these duties. This position will comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and other safety and infection control regulations, policies, and procedures.
Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) or Designated Supportive Living (DSL) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC/DSL site for the remainder of the pandemic. Speak to the hiring manager who will confirm if, as the successful candidate in this position, you will be restricted to work at only one LTC/DLS site in Alberta.
Description: As an Environmental II, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with intensive or specialized cleaning within a hospital or facility associated with industrial cleaning supplies and by using powered industrial equipment. Your
typical duties may include operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance, thorough washing of ceilings and windows and emptying hazardous waste. You may also provide training/orientation to Environmental staff.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
Knowledge and operation of a computer including Microsoft Office.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform repetitive movements for the duration of your shift.
Physically capable to lift, push and pull up to 30 lbs of force.
Additional Required Qualifications:
General knowledge of cleaning techniques and methods required. Good interpersonal skills required. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format.
Preferred Qualifications:
Successful completion of a basic housekeeping program is an asset.
